Is The World Going To End In 2012?
You have probably heard the theories that the world is going to end in 2012. But do you know just how many theories are out there?
The Mayan Calendar
This all mostly started with the Mayan Calendar. The Long Count Calendar to be precise. It ends on December 21, 2012. From this, many people have speculated that the world will end. The Mayans themselves said only this was the end of one period and the beginning of another.
Planet X or Planet Nibiru
Another theory or prediction being tied to December 21, 2012 is the Planet X or Planet Nibiru prediction. This states that the Sumerians texts, which are 6,000 years old and written in cuneiform, speak about their gods, the Anunnkai. These gods supposed came from a place called Nibiru, which is described as a place that could be a planet, but is described as a space between. The Anunnkai were 8’ tall, Nordic, and wildly intelligent. They created human beings using genetic code and material from themselves. And they taught the Sumers all about the solar system, among other things. They traveled back to their planet. In fact, in Sumer the symbol for them looks like DNA. It’s a pair of twisted snakes. This theory states that Planet Nibiru will cross paths with us; people believe it is the same planet as the Planet X scientists have been looking for over the past decades. The theory is that the planet will collide with ours or brush right past ours. Even coming by very closely could throw us out of orbit, or worse. We could be pushed back from the sun, causing our atmosphere to cool to freezing. We could get pushed too close to the sun, heating things up too much. If Jupiter was disrupted it could get shoved into the sun and explode that giant ball of gas. Some theorize that when the Anunnkai originally came to earth, Planet X collided with a planet between Jupiter and Mars, which created the Big Bang! Another collision or near miss would produce cataclysmic effects as well.
Asteroid Theory
Other people predict that an asteroid will collide with us, or pass so quickly by us that we are knocked out of our orbit. This could have disastrous impact. Other people believe it could knock our magnetic field out of whack and reverse the poles, which could induce a Second Ice Age. Some speculate that is what caused the Ice Age that killed the dinosaurs. A brush past or a collision could disrupt the currents of the ocean, provoke tsunamis, hurricanes, and flooding. Earthquakes are a given. Volcanic activity could be incited. The result would be a disaster of epic proportions.
Nostradamus Predictions
There are those who pull out Nostradamus’s predictions and dust those off as well. Nostradamus has been eerily accurate in the past. If you apply his predictions to the current situation, there does seem to be reason to think that a comet or an asteroid are in our future. He speaks of “the bearded star” and says, "Thirst and Famine when/The Comet shall pass.” He speaks of a second comet or object as well. “an ever greater approaches/ The great cycle of the centuries/renewed, it will rain blood, milk,/famine, war disease/ In the sky will be seen a great fire/dragging a trail of sparks." He also says, “The Great Star will blaze for Seven days,” which has many thinking it be very near our planet for seven long days and nights and be visible in the sky. Many people feel this is predicting the collision of our planet with an asteroid, comet, or even a planet. And the resulting terror will be unbearable. The global warming we have endured thus far will be nothing compared to the outcome of such a collision.
Polar Shift
Others call for December 21, 2012 to bring us a polar shift. A shift in the poles would be a disaster. The techtonic plates on the earth’s crust would be disheveled. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis would result. The climate change would be abrupt and catastrophic. We would lose our magnetic field, which helps us hold onto the layer of our atmosphere that protects us from the sun’s heat. If you can think back to the mammoth encased in ice with its lunch still clenched in its teeth, then you can imagine the outcome of a polar shift.
Biblical Prophecy
The Bible talks about the end of time as well. And there is plenty in there to tie to December 21, 2012. The Book of Revelations explains that all the natural disasters we’re seeing are a signal that the end times are near. They are the disasters before the Apocalypse. Jesus said: “And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Even global warming can be tied to the end of times. "And they fourth poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given to it to burn men with fire. And men were burned with great heat.” The heating up our of planet is a signal that the end is near. But on December 21, 2012, there will be no galactic event. In all likelihood, the four horsemen will come, which is the beginning of the end.
Solar Flares
There has been an increase in solar flare activity and the center of the current 11-year sun cycle is 2012, which is typically when we have solar flare activity. There is concern about failure of our power grid, and Sudden Ionoshperic Disturbances, which would heat up our planet even more.
Planetary Alignment
On December 21, 2012, there will be a planetary alignment. The center of the sun, Earth, and the Milky Way will all be aligned for the first time in thousands of years. However, at the center of the Milky Way there is a supermassive black hole. There is concern that this alignment could offset the current balance in magnetic forces and energy and cause the earth to be sucked into the black hole.
Natural Disasters
There is also a theory that the real concern is global warming, which is causing the increase in the natural disasters we’ve seen. The increase in the force of earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis. The increase in the number of wildfires, floods, and land slides. All of this is due to the global warming happening all around us. The global warming we are experiencing is due to the deforestation of our planet. The trees take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Without all those trees, we have a serious increase in carbon dioxide, which has lead to the sun’s heat being trapped in our outer atmosphere. Additionally, the earth’s core is heating up, which is literally cooking our ice caps. As they melt, they disrupt the ocean currents and cause flooding. If this continues, life as we know it will most certainly end. The Mayan prophecy is the end of an age. It could be the end of the age of global warming and the beginning of the period of no turning back. Or perhaps it will be the beginning of the period where we start to heal our planet.
